365 days of denim later…
2021. A year of oh-so-many trends, from skinny jeans getting *canceled* to low-rise making a comeback (oh boy). Needless to say, it has been a doozy.
Craziness aside, we are beyond grateful for this community and wanted to share what you loved and…umm…questioned when it comes to the world of denim.
Skinny jeans are the little black dress of the jean world. The never-goes-out-of-style cut that pairs just as well with oversized sweaters as fitted tops as raggedy T-shirts. And when it comes to jackets, give blazers a go for the perfect balance between laid-back and sophisticated.
Straight leg jeans are a close cousin to everyone’s favorite skinny jeans. The main difference? The width of the hem. As you’d guess from the name, straight leg jeans don’t taper inward at the ankles. Instead, the hem remains straight from hip to ankle for a comfortable, vintage-esque silhouette with more breathing room.
Boyfriend jeans take a cue from the relaxed, masculine look. First spotted on actress Marilyn Monroe back in the 60s, they’ve been seen on everyone from Katie Holmes (who used to actually wear Tom Cruise’s jeans!) to Margot Robbie, Diane Kruger, and Jessica Chastain. Although they’re, by definition, a bit slouchy, that doesn’t mean they’re not sleek. In fact, more and more brands are designing boyfriend cuts with a slight taper to lend the look a touch more structure.
Slim fit jeans are *essentially* the same thing as bootcut, which earned its name when cowboys (circa 1850ish) needed pants that’d allow them to ride horses with enough calf space to fit their boots.
Ankle jeans can encompass skinny, straight leg, boyfriend, mom jeans…essentially any pair that comes down to…you guessed it…your ankle.
There is NOTHING fun about buying and returning and buying and returning over and over (and over) again until you find that perfect pair of jeans. And yet, for us women with strong, athletic thighs, that — more often than not — is what we end up doing. And it all boils down to the wild inconsistencies in sizing. This list is here to help.
If sculpting jeans that create the illusion of a rounder butt will help you feel more beautiful, we’re all for it. Time to get cheeky!
Nobody needs tummy-control jeans…at all. But if this cut, which is designed with built-in waistline panels for a smoother silhouette, will help you feel more confident, go for it. These are our 10 faves.
Calling all petite women…have we got jeans for YOU. Because nothing should come between you and your next pair, especially height.
Alright, so we’ve got some good news and not-so-good news here. Because these jeans were SO popular in 2021, most are sold out. In fact, at the moment, the only ones still in stock are the Kankan boyfriend jeans. (We linked them all so you can bookmark your faves and know when they come back in stock.)
BUT…here comes the good news…there’s so, so many more options from all of these brands and jean types to choose from in your personal Revelle store. Plus, the ones you’ll find there will have your tailored size recommendation. So head on over — and if you haven’t yet signed up, get on that stat (it’s totally free, BTW)!
Same story here, unfortunately. The only ones that are in stock are Style & Co Curvy-Fit Skinny Jeans, but feel free to shop by brand or style in your Revelle store for hundreds more!
