10 Affirmations To Repeat Daily

Let’s be real: The way we talk to ourselves matters—a lot. You’ve probably heard the saying “the words you speak become the house you live in,” and we’ve been thinking a lot about that lately. 

Here at Revelle, we love to talk about body positivity and speak out against the manyyyy ways the fashion industry and social media distort the way we think about our bodies. We hate labels, retouched photos, and anything created to make women feel like they need to change their bodies in order to be accepted or loved.

And while it’s really important to continue fighting against those external pressures, it’s also important to look within ourselves. Loving yourself for exactly who you are (inside and out) is perhaps the most powerful tool against insecurity and external negativity. 

If you’re working on improving self-love and acceptance this year, affirmations are a great place to start.

What Are Affirmations?

Affirmations are like a daily dose of positivity for your brain. They’re short, simple (yet powerful!) statements that you repeat to yourself. They’re a great way to remind yourself of all the amazing things you’re capable of. The key is simply to make them personal and meaningful to you, and to say them (out loud) with conviction.

If you’ve never said affirmations out loud before, it might feel a little weird at first. However, after a short while of daily practice, it won’t feel strange (and you’ll start to feel your self-assurance grow!).

Choose a few of these affirmations to start. Bonus points if you look in the mirror when you say them.

1. "I am worthy of love and respect."

3. "I choose to focus on my positive qualities."

4. "I am enough just as I am."

5. "I trust in my abilities and decisions."

6. "I am deserving of success and happiness."

Tip: Make these affirmations more personal by customizing them! For example, if you feel most proud of your creativity and empathy, try swapping out the words in affirmation #2.
