In the world of fashion trends, what goes around comes around. So, what’s coming back in 2023? Double denim, baby! A handful of 90’s denim trends are everywhere right now (we know you’ve seen the low-rise jeans and the denim maxi skirts!), but denim-on-denim is probably our favorite.
If you’re looking for tips to elevate the double denim look… we’ve got you covered! Here are our favorite ways to style this ensemble.
1. Lean into the baggy jeans trend
Baggy jeans are another popular 90s fashion trend, so the two work together seamlessly. Pair your favorite wide leg jeans with a matching denim shirt or denim jacket.
2. Rock overalls
If you want to try the double denim trend in a unique way… consider wearing a pair of denim overalls (or a jumpsuit!). This is a great alternative to the classic denim shirt and jeans, especially if you gravitate towards boho style.
3. Layer with a white tee
Simplify the denim-on-denim look with a plain white t-shirt. A t-shirt will break up the denim and diffuse the entire look (and give it a casual feel!). Add some chunky white sneakers to finish the look.
4. Pair light and dark wash denim
This is the easiest way to elevate a classic Canadian tuxedo! If denim-on-denim intimidates you, try pairing light wash with dark wash denim. It almost gives the impression of two different fabrics.
Accessories transform an outfit like nothing else. And double denim is no exception. Add a choker, scarf, bucket hat, or even a metallic tote bag (we love the one below!) to take your fit to the next level.
Some of our favorite celebs have rocked double denim outfits. Here are our favorite looks (including the ICONIC Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake moment, Gigi Hadid, Drew Barrymore, and Julia Fox!).
