Finding a pair of jeans that fits you the way YOU want them to is *especially* difficult for those of us with curvier backsides. The culprit? The waist gap — ya know, that feeling when a pair of jeans fits our butt perfectly but not our waist…or vice versa, leaving us resigned to the fact that jeans will fit one or the other but never both. I guess it’s a good thing we have a tailor…right?
NO!! It doesn’t have to be this hard. Say it with us now…IT DOES NOT HAVE TO BE THIS HARD.
Below, we’ve rounded up our list of the best jeans for big butts. Here’s what we looked for:
- Between 2-6% of stretch denim material (e.g., lycra, spandex)
As the name suggests, stretch jeans will mold and stretch to your body, but you don’t want TOOOO much stretch, otherwise you’ll end up with a baggy fit at the end of the day.
- Designated curvy jeans
…which often means extra room in the back, the perfect amount of stretch material, and contoured waistbands.
- A few (but not all) plus-size cuts
Telling a woman with a bigger backside to “just go for a plus-size cut!” may sometimes be the right piece of advice, but it’s important to acknowledge that bigger backsides don’t always mean plus-size.
- High-rise jeans
Rather than mid-rise or low-rise.
