Dark wash. Straight leg. Can’t lose.
Straight leg jeans are a close cousin to everyone’s favorite skinny jeans. The main difference? The width of the hem. As you’d guess from the name, straight leg jeans don’t taper inward at the ankles. Instead, the hem remains straight from hip to ankle for a comfortable, vintage-esque silhouette with more breathing room.
While anyone can rock ‘em, they’re a particularly fab option for those of us with strong, athletic calves because of the extra lower leg space.
And if you’re worried about styling, rest assured that versatility is the name of the game. Dress them up with a chic blouse/blazer or keep it casual with a tucked-in tie-dye T-shirt or cardigan. Bonus points for the fact that they work with a whole slew of shoes, too: sneakers, ankle boots, sandals…you name it.
We love the high-rise-meets-ankle-skimming hem of these straight leg jeans. They’re 99% cotton and just 1% elastane, so expect lots of durability with just a liiiiiiiitle bit of stretch. Between sizes? We recommend going one size up.
These aren’t your typical black denim jeans. Nope. These are constructed with a sleek and sophisticated leather-like texture that can easily be styled up or down to take you from the office to weekend brunch.
The tummy-control cut is designed with built-in waistline panels for a smoother silhouette. And while no one (read: NO ONE) needs tummy-control jeans, if it will help you feel more confident and beautiful in your body, we’re all for it. This pair from NYDJ has an inseam of approximately 30” and sits high up on the waist (9 ¾”).
NYDJ earns another mention on our list of top straight leg jeans courtesy of this *slightly* edgy pair with O-ring zippers, tonal stitching, and back patch pockets. Oh! And it’s made with “Future Fit” denim, which provides all-over compression and contouring for the perfect fit.
“Ab” solution technology helps mold and shape your beautiful curves. That, combined with the elastic waistband, makes these black jeans one of our favorites. Leggings, watch out.
Made with 4-way stretch denim with built-in recovery, these Lola jeans certainly err on the snug side. They’re one of the few mid-rise pairs on the list, which means they fit right along the waist rather than above your belly button.
For more distressed details, look no further than this pair from Sam Edelman which, despite its name, doesn’t HAVE to be worn with stilettos — although if you want to rock that look, we’re behind you 1000%.
These high-rise straight leg jeans with a long inseam (31″) are durably made with 100% cotton that lends a relaxed, distressed look courtesy of the faded hue.
